Middle-Upper School (7th-12th)

A Connected 6-Year Journey

Beginning in 7th grade, students enter our Middle–Upper School, a connected 6-year experience designed to support academic growth, independence, and preparation for life beyond Briarwood.

While each stage is developmentally distinct, students move through a thoughtfully designed progression that builds confidence, responsibility, and readiness for what’s next.

Grades 7–8: Building the Foundation

In Grades 7–8, students begin building independence while strengthening the academic and social foundations established in Lower School. With increased choice through electives and a supportive advisory structure, students gain confidence, voice, and ownership of their learning.

Grades 9–12: Expanding & Leading

In Upper School, students expand their interests, deepen academic engagement, and step into leadership. Through electives, athletics, and real-world preparation, students develop the confidence and skills needed for college and beyond.
