Our Story

We empower students with diagnosed learning differences to reach their maximum potential through diagnostic-prescriptive instruction in a structured academic environment.

Our History
The Briarwood and Tuttle Schools, located in Houston, Texas, have a rich history that spans several decades. Founded in 1967 by Dave and Yvonne Streit, the schools were established with the aim of providing a nurturing educational environment for students with either language-based learning differences or intellectual disabilities.

In its early years, the school started as a small institution with a handful of students and a dedicated group of educators. It began with a strong commitment to individualized instruction and a focus on helping students reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Over time, the program gained recognition for its innovative approaches and successes in working with students who had unique learning needs. The school continued to grow, and by the 1980s, it had expanded its facilities and programs to accommodate a larger student body.
