There are many factors that must be considered when making a decision to stay at Briarwood or to transfer to another independent or public school. Families that have questions about their child’s academic future outside of Briarwood are encouraged to speak with their child’s advisor or Division Director about how to begin building a transition plan.
Courses offered to all students are on or above grade level. Students continue to build upon and solidify the organizational, advocacy, and academic skills taught as a result of the individual attention from teachers and friendships formed at Briarwood.
Our teachers, counselors, and Administrators guide students and families in making the best academic choices based on each student’s individual needs.
Students who demonstrate a clear ability to self-advocate, study independently, sharpen their executive function skills, and consistently work on or above grade level may request to initiate a transition plan meeting. A transition plan meeting consists of a student’s advisor, teachers, administrators, and parents. This group of individuals works together to determine a transition plan designed to set the student up for success.
Through one-on-one sessions with the counselor and the College and Career Readiness course, students research a variety of post-graduation options, including two year community colleges, four year universities, technical college programs, or the military.
