“As a mom, I had several tearful meetings the first year of high school where I was told to “trust the process.” I did just that, and it was one of the best decisions our family made! At Briarwood, Reece was nurtured and given love and knowledge, which enabled him to grow. The school gave him a foundation to make good decisions. Thank you for helping my son become the man he is today.”
Thank you for this amazing school! I thank God for Briarwood everyday! My son has found a place for himself and this is priceless!
~Tandy, Lower School Parent
This year I want you to know how very much I appreciate you and all the help you have given my grandson. He was so lost last year in private school…then in public school…no special help…unable to write. It was a disaster and he was so discouraged even though he is a smart little guy. Then God led us to Briarwood. And his whole life was turned around!
You have so empowered him! He is learning and he loves it! Allowing him to use the iPAD was an INSPIRED idea and has made such a difference! I love the curriculum and your teaching methods. Your program is so success oriented. I love the character values you impart to your students. And you all give him so much individual attention. He is no longer flying under the radar (at which he was becoming very adept!).
In this holiday season, please know how much my family and I appreciate your wonderful work. You are the answer I prayed so hard for every single night last spring. As a former teacher, I collect quotes about teachers. And my favorite is that “A teacher will never know how much she affects eternity.” You have affected eternity with our grandson. Thank you so much for admitting him to your program and allowing him to be a part of the Briarwood Community. You all have literally saved his academic life!
~Grandmother of a Lower School Student
My son came to Briarwood in the 8th grade. After coming home his first day he said, “I’m going to try and do well here and I’m going to do my best.” It is the Briarwood Community that spurred and nurtured that determination. You all have been a Godsend to my son and thanks to you, he is looking up and not down!
~Marcia, Parent of a senior
I know you appreciate hearing about the successes of your former students, so I thought I would send you a Nick update. Nick graduated from Schreiner University in December. He had a cumulative 3.5 GPA and maintained his academic scholarship for the entire four years. Before Briarwood, Nick’s mother and I worried that he might never finish high school. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design-Computer Graphics.
At Briarwood, Nick developed an interest in photography. While photography has not been his primary focus at Schreiner, he has continued to perfect his skills. Nick had his first professional photography exhibition in Kerrville.
I cannot overstate how important Briarwood has been to Nick and to our family. I do not know where Nick’s talent will ultimately take him, but I do know that he would not have discovered or had the confidence to use it were it not for The Briarwood School.
~Bob, Parent of a Briarwood Graduate
“The principal at my old school told me I would never achieve anything in life. Then, I started my journey at Briarwood. My teachers teach in a way that works for me. I know I can do so much more than what people said I would be able to do.”
“Before Briarwood came into my life, I always thought there was something wrong with me. Focusing was always a struggle, making decent grades seemed impossible, and I always had the feeling that I was slower and below everyone else. I had very little self-confidence because I always went to class knowing I was destined to fail. Briarwood has shown me that I am capable of learning; I just learn in a different way than most people. Though Briarwood can’t cure my learning differences, Briarwood has given me so much knowledge about how I learn and how I can apply what I’ve learned into the outside world. I honestly don’t know where I would be today if it wasn’t for Briarwood.
Thank you, Briarwood! You have all helped me so much. I will never forget you!
~Peyton, Middle School student
I’ve spent ten years here, and Briarwood has become much more than just a school to me. It’s the place where I’ve made my lifelong friends, discovered my passions, had my greatest successes, and learned from my failures. I can’t imagine what high school would have been like if I hadn’t attended Briarwood, and I wouldn’t have wanted to go. If I hadn’t gone to Briarwood, I don’t believe I would be the confident, happy person that I am today. My Briarwood education taught me so much. I will forever be thankful to Briarwood for the ten fantastic years I have spent here.
~Emily, Senior at Briarwood
I have many memories of my lower, middle and high school life. I remember the first time I ever came to Briarwood. My mom asked me if I wanted to go to school here. I said no because I didn’t want to wear uniforms. Now that I look back on that I smile because I didn’t understand how much I needed Briarwood and it was going to change my life. In Lower School I started to realize I was good enough for school. Thank you for always maintaining the vision of Briarwood to help young people like me!
Briarwood has brightly encouraged me to go the extra mile academically, athletically, and socially. I have truly gained the best high school experience that any student could ask for. I hope to pursue only greatness in my future, and embellish my life in college with all that I have gained from this school. The spirit of Briarwood will always be part of me, and I am ever so grateful to have it!
